Have extra buttons laying around in a drawer or jar? Put them to a creative use this holiday. Every seamstress has buttons laying around, right? Well, I do, but can't take credit for this adorable gift and you don't have to be a seamstress to work with these buttons. My talented older sister made a collection of shadow box art one christmas and passed them out to friends as gifts. In this shadow box pictured, she took a collection of buttons and made a christmas tree. Other pieces included a snowman and christmas wreath.
If you don't have the right color buttons, visit a local craft store where you can purchases a collection of buttons in different shades, shapes and colors. The shadow box was bought at a local scrapbook supply store. She glued the buttons on the cardstock, matted the white paper on a red piece and taped it to the back of the shadow box. In her own handwriting at the bottom it reads, "Merry Christmas." On the snowman you could write "let it snow". There are endless possibilities for making it unique. Every year I get this out and put it on my tree. I love that she made it for me and it has her handwriting with a note on the back of the box that I treasure and will for years to come.
